DESCRIPTION:Western New Mexico University (WNMU) announces the return of th
 e Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for the 2026 tax season
 .\nFree professional tax preparation for individuals with a household inco
 me of $69\,000 or less.\nIRS-certified WNMU business students will offer f
 ree tax preparation and electronic filing services to eligible community m
 embers starting February 2\, 2026.\nFebruary 2\, – April 2\, 2026\, Mon
 days and Wednesdays\, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.\, Tuesdays and Thursdays\, 8
 :00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The site will be closed during Spring Break\, March
  9–13\, 2026.\nWNMU Watts Hall\, 501 E. 18th Street.\n\n\n\nThe VITA pro
 gram at WNMU is a long-standing partnership between the university and the
  IRS. It provides Business Administration students with invaluable hands-o
 n experience while offering a vital\, free service to the Silver City and 
 Grant County community. All student volunteers undergo rigorous IRS traini
 ng and testing to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and confidentia
 lity.\nTo ensure a complete and accurate return\, taxpayers must bring:\n\
 n\n 	Photo ID(Driver’s license\, state ID\, or passport)\n 	Social Secur
 ity Cardsor ITINs for all individuals listed on the return\n 	All Income S
 tatements:W-2s\, 1099s\, and other relevant documents\n 	Health Insurance 
 Information:Forms 1095-A\, B\, or C\n 	Banking Information:A voided check 
 or account numbers for direct deposit of refunds\n\nPrior Year Return: A c
